Penumbra, Inc. (PEN) has officially introduced the Ruby® XL System, following FDA clearance, marking a significant advancement in vascular embolization technology. The system debuts with the longest (up to 70 cm), largest (up to 40mm), and softest coil available on the market, designed to enhance procedural efficiency and patient outcomes.
The Ruby XL System incorporates three distinct technologies: Ruby XL, POD® XL, and Packing Coil XL, each compatible with a standard 0.035"+ diagnostic catheter. This design strategy potentially reduces additional equipment costs and offers an unprecedented coil volume, supporting a range of clinical applications.
Prominent features of the system include the Ruby XL's 3D complex shapes for aneurysm framing, the POD XL's hybrid multistage design for high-flow vessel control, and the Packing Coil XL's liquid metal wave shape technology for dynamic vessel adaptation.
