United Airlines recently initiated a major rollout of free Starlink Wi-Fi services but has now temporarily halted the service on approximately 20 aircraft due to static interference issues. The airline is collaborating with Starlink to address these "limited reports" of static interference, which it assures do not pose any safety risks. During the resolution period, these aircraft are operating without Wi-Fi.

United Airlines anticipates a swift restoration of Wi-Fi services on these planes. The necessary repairs are scheduled to take place during routine maintenance, and the airline expects no disruptions to its flight schedules. SpaceX, the company behind Starlink, has not commented on the situation.
