Scale AI specializes in data annotation services that assist companies in training machine learning models. The company has been a significant beneficiary of the generative AI boom, with clients such as Microsoft and OpenAI. In a previous funding round in 2024, Scale AI was valued at approximately $14 billion, with both Meta and Microsoft participating as investors. Earlier this year, Scale AI was reportedly in talks for an acquisition offer that valued the company at $25 billion.
