  • Canada Nickel (CNC) partners with NetCarb to enhance carbon sequestration technology.
  • New technology could increase CO2 storage capacity at Crawford by up to 10 times.
  • Potential development of a Zero Carbon Industrial Cluster in Timmins, Ontario.

Canada Nickel Company Inc. (CNC) has announced a strategic collaboration with Australia-based NetCarb to commercialize an innovative carbon sequestration technology aimed at significantly boosting CO2 storage capacity. The new technology targets complete carbonation of serpentine minerals and could increase CO2 storage at the Crawford site by up to tenfold compared to Canada Nickel's existing IPT Carbonation process.

This advancement has the potential to enable 10-15 million tonnes of annual CO2 sequestration and a lifetime capacity of over 500 million tonnes at Crawford alone.

The partnership also includes plans for establishing a Zero Carbon Industrial Cluster in Timmins, Ontario. This initiative could leverage over 20 regional ultramafic exploration properties to facilitate multi-gigatonne carbon sequestration, creating a significant hub for mineral carbon sequestration.

To bring this vision to life, Canada Nickel and NetCarb are committed to securing government funding and attracting industrial partners from sectors such as natural gas power, hydrogen production, and biomass industries.

Currently in its development phase, the partnership underscores a substantial commitment to accelerating carbon mineralization solutions and paving the way toward substantial net-zero progress. With this innovative approach, Timmins could become a central player in the low-carbon economy, integrating technological innovation with extensive natural resources.
