Meta Platforms (META, Financials) is reportedly in talks to invest more than $10 billion in artificial intelligence startup Scale AI, according to Bloomberg, in a move that could significantly deepen its involvement in AI infrastructure and data training.
The deal terms are not finalized and could still change, according to sources cited by the report. Meta did not immediately respond to requests for comment, and Scale AI declined to comment.
Scale AI, founded in 2016, is a data labeling company whose backers include Nvidia (NVDA, Financials), Amazon (AMZN, Financials), and Meta itself. The company was last valued at nearly $14 billion and operates a platform that facilitates AI data exchange with contributors across more than 9,000 cities.
