Apple Inc. (AAPL, Financial) has unveiled macOS Tahoe 26, the latest iteration of its renowned operating system for Mac computers. This new release boasts a striking new design, featuring Liquid Glass material, offering a more expressive and personalized user experience while maintaining the familiar elements of macOS. Users can now customize their desktops with updated Control Center options and new color selections for folders, app icons, and widgets.

Building on Apple’s Continuity feature, the Phone app is now available on Mac, enabling users to seamlessly relay cellular calls from their iPhone. New additions within the Phone app include Call Screening and Hold Assist, allowing users to manage calls more efficiently. Furthermore, real-time Live Activities from a nearby iPhone are now accessible directly from a Mac, keeping users informed about events like flights and live sports scores.

The update to Spotlight, the search and action utility on macOS, is the most significant ever. Users can now execute hundreds of actions directly from Spotlight, such as sending emails or creating notes, streamlining multitasking. It also introduces intelligent browsing experiences to find content faster and allows for personalized action recommendations based on user routines.

Apple Intelligence has been enhanced with new capabilities, such as Live Translation for seamless communication across language barriers and more powerful Shortcuts that integrate with Apple’s on-device intelligence models. Additionally, the updated Apple Games app provides a central hub for gaming, alongside enhanced graphics and next-generation rendering technologies introduced with Metal 4.

The macOS Tahoe 26 public beta will be available next month, with a full release scheduled for the fall. These features showcase Apple’s commitment to enhancing productivity and personalization while safeguarding user privacy, aligning with its legacy of innovation in the technology sector.
