- Robust flotation recoveries with up to 89.9% copper, 74.1% gold, and 76.0% silver.
- Successful production of high-grade copper concentrate exceeding 26% copper with significant gold grades of 6.2–16.9 g/t.
- Low concentrations of deleterious metals indicate potential for clean, high-quality concentrates.
Kodiak Copper Corp. (KDKCF, Financial) has reported promising results from its initial metallurgical testwork on the MPD copper-gold project in British Columbia. The testwork achieved flotation recoveries of up to 89.9% for copper, 74.1% for gold, and 76.0% for silver, showcasing the project's favorable metallurgy.
The company successfully produced a high-grade copper concentrate exceeding 26% copper, with significant gold content ranging from 6.2 to 16.9 grams per tonne (g/t). These results were obtained from three composite samples representing different grade profiles, indicating potential for the project to produce clean, high-quality concentrates.
The substantial presence of copper as chalcopyrite and the use of conventional processing methods present a de-risked opportunity as Kodiak Copper continues to work toward a maiden resource estimate expected soon. While the initial findings are favorable, opportunities to enhance gold recovery by optimizing pyrite content in the copper concentrate will be explored in future phases of testing.
