QuickLogic Corporation (NASDAQ: QUIK) has announced its membership in the newly established Intel Foundry Chiplet Alliance, a strategic move designed to enhance its position in the embedded FPGA (eFPGA) market. The alliance, which is part of the Intel Foundry Accelerator Alliance program, provides QuickLogic with early access to Intel Foundry's process and packaging roadmaps, PDKs, and training sessions.
By joining the alliance, QuickLogic will participate in multi-project-wafer (MPW) shuttles, an initiative aimed at shortening prototype cycles and reducing costs. The company's eFPGA Hard IP is already offered on Intel's 18A process node through Intel Foundry IP and USMAG Alliance programs, and this new membership will extend their collaboration to the package level, facilitating the seamless interoperability of QuickLogic’s reconfigurable logic blocks with other alliance members' die in multi-chip packages.
QuickLogic's CEO, Brian Faith, noted that this partnership is a logical progression for the company, allowing them to bring customizable eFPGA chiplets to market more quickly and with reduced risk. This is particularly significant for customers in sectors requiring secure and adaptable solutions, such as aerospace, defense, and commercial applications.
The collaboration aligns with increasing demands for secure, domestically produced semiconductor solutions in the U.S. military, aerospace, and government sectors, as well as commercial markets. QuickLogic's alliance with Intel positions it advantageously within this growing ecosystem and reinforces its competitive edge with strategic technological advantages and ecosystem connections.
