  • Q Precious & Battery Metals Corp. (QMET) and Quebec Innovative Materials Corp. (QIMC) launch a $200,000 Phase 2 hydrogen exploration program in Nova Scotia starting July 2025.
  • Over 1,000 soil gas samples to be collected along fault zones to detect hydrogen and other gases, with real-time data analysis provided by INRS.
  • Temiscamingue First Nations to participate, enhancing previous collaboration with QIMC in Quebec projects.

Q Precious & Battery Metals Corp. (QMET) and Quebec Innovative Materials Corp. (QIMC) have announced the initiation of a $200,000 Phase 2 exploration program aimed at uncovering natural hydrogen resources in Nova Scotia. This follows the successful completion of an initial geological reconnaissance which pinpointed key geological fault zones and structural features across their properties.

The comprehensive program, slated to begin in July 2025, involves the collection of over 1,000 soil gas samples at intervals of 50 to 100 meters along identified fault zones within the Cumberland Basin. This initiative targets the detection of hydrogen (H2), methane (CH4), carbon dioxide (CO2), and hydrogen sulfide (H2S), supported by detailed radiometric gamma measurements.

Experts from the Institut National de la Recherche Scientifique (INRS) will provide real-time interpretation of data to efficiently identify high-grade hydrogen zones for further exploration. The Temiscamingue First Nations will continue their collaboration with QIMC, building on their past partnership at the St-Bruno-de-Guigues project in Quebec.

Richard Penn, CEO of QMET, emphasized the strategic importance of this phase, stating, "Our collaboration with QIMC is pivotal in advancing our efforts to identify and confirm natural hydrogen zones, which could significantly contribute to Nova Scotia's energy future." John Karagiannidis, CEO of QIMC, echoed this sentiment, highlighting their proprietary exploration model's success in delivering high-value results.
