Kyndryl (KD), recognized as a key player in the domain of critical enterprise technology services, has announced the introduction of new advisory and implementation services aimed at expediting the modernization and migration of mainframe applications to the Amazon Web Services (AWS) Cloud. The initiative leverages AWS Transform's advanced agentic AI capabilities. This follows Kyndryl's certification as an Elite Launch Partner for AWS Transform for Mainframe, providing the company a robust platform to address the often cumbersome and error-prone nature of mainframe code analysis and migration.

The newly launched services are anticipated to simplify application modernization processes significantly, cutting down project timelines by about one-third, a major development given that mainframe migrations are typically lengthy processes. Kyndryl Bridge, the company's AI-powered open integration platform, will enable businesses to identify applications suitable for upgrades and subsequently leverage AWS Transform for their modernization and migration.

The strategic partnership is poised to transform how organizations handle their legacy IT systems, offering them modern AI tools to speed up digital transformation initiatives. This move aligns with growing market demands, highlighted by Kyndryl's 2024 Mainframe Modernization Survey, which showed that 86% of companies are already deploying or planning to deploy AI in their mainframe modernization projects. Furthermore, nearly half of these organizations intend to use generative AI to transform mainframe data into actionable insights, positioning Kyndryl to meet significant market demand.

Through this collaboration, Kyndryl aims to utilize its historical strength in mainframe expertise, inherited from its IBM roots, combined with AWS's cutting-edge AI capabilities. This blend promises to enhance the digital transformation journey for many organizations, enabling them to unlock significant value from their data and legacy applications, crucial as they pivot to more resilient, cloud-based infrastructures.
