- Fluence (FLNC, Financial) successfully completes extensive fire safety testing for their Gridstack Pro 5000 energy storage system.
- The system delivers up to 5.6 MWh in a 20-foot enclosure, surpassing UL 9540A standards and aligning with NFPA 855 (2026) requirements.
- Testing affirmed effective prevention of fire propagation between enclosures, even in tightly spaced layouts.
Fluence Energy, Inc. (NASDAQ: FLNC), a leader in intelligent energy storage solutions, has successfully concluded one of the largest fire safety evaluations in the energy storage sector for its Gridstack Pro 5000 system. This high-density system, capable of delivering up to 5.6 MWh within a compact 20-foot enclosure, sets new safety standards by meeting and exceeding current UL 9540A and upcoming NFPA 855 (2026) requirements.
Conducted in partnership with CSA Group, the testing involved five days of rigorous explosion assessments and large-scale fire evaluations at Safe Laboratories. The system demonstrated exceptional safety performance by effectively preventing fire propagation between enclosures, even when positioned in close proximity.
The extensive testing process included two days of gas dispersion evaluation and three days of deflagration testing. The system’s active ventilation and deflagration panels functioned flawlessly, ensuring compliance with NFPA standards and validating the effectiveness of its passive safety features. This thorough validation effort was overseen by independent experts, establishing a new benchmark for industry transparency and safety expectations.
Peter Williams, SVP and Chief Product and Supply Chain Officer at Fluence, emphasized that the rigorous testing highlighted the safety and technological capabilities of the Gridstack Pro 5000. "This testing goes far beyond what the industry currently requires and is not only a validation of our design but a real-world demonstration of how next-generation systems must perform under worst-case scenarios," Williams stated.
Fluence continues to advance safety protocols in the energy storage industry by integrating cutting-edge safety features into its systems, aiming to prevent, detect, and contain thermal events while providing high energy capacity in compact configurations. This landmark achievement positions Fluence as a frontrunner in safe, high-density energy storage solutions.
