Bion Environmental Technologies (BNET, Financial) has finalized its Technology-Optimization Report concerning the Ammonia Recovery System (ARS) at Fair Oaks, Indiana. This optimized system proved stable, reliable, and scalable, achieving ammonia reduction goals while requiring a third less water for evaporation than predicted, resulting in improved economic feasibility and lower fertilizer production costs.

The ARS is now set to proceed to the final design phase for a commercial-scale system, tailored to specific project details, locations, and feedstock types. Bion is currently assessing over two dozen potential projects, with numerous others in the queue. The report highlights more than a decade of ARS concept innovation and research, with a focus on the optimization achievements at Fair Oaks.

Bion collaborated with Buflovak, a New York-based engineering firm with expertise in evaporation and separation processes. Over the past six years, Buflovak's team has significantly contributed to the ARS's development and testing. The optimization phase has demonstrated substantial operational improvements, ultimately decreasing projected operating and fertilizer production costs by about 25% compared to earlier models. This also indicates a notable reduction in capital costs related to fertilizer or treatment capacity.
