2K and Gearbox Software have officially announced that Borderlands® 4 is now open for pre-order. Known for its looter-shooter gameplay, the next installment in the franchise is set to release globally on September 12, 2025. Players can anticipate playing the game on PlayStation®5 (PS5®), Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. Notably, the game will also extend its reach to Nintendo Switch 2 later in the year.
David Ismailer, President of 2K, highlighted, "Borderlands 4 represents a significant evolution in both gameplay and storytelling, fulfilling fan expectations while also introducing fresh experiences." Randy Pitchford, Gearbox founder, emphasized that the game serves as both an entry point for new players and a tribute to long-time fans.
Players will explore the expansive Borderlands world with four unique new Vault Hunters. The game promises an abundance of content, including post-launch story missions and expansions. In addition to free content, paid DLC packages will introduce fresh content such as new Vault Hunters, regions, and gameplay challenges.
Borderlands 4 is offered in three different editions: Standard Edition at $69.99, Deluxe Edition at $99.99, and Super Deluxe Edition at $129.99. Pre-orders come with a bonus Gilded Glory Pack, featuring exclusive skins and items.
