Cadence Design Systems, Inc. (CDNS) has announced a significant expansion of its collaboration with Samsung Foundry, strengthening their joint efforts in innovating semiconductor solutions. This development includes a new multi-year IP agreement aimed at advancing technology in AI-driven flows, particularly for AI data centers, automotive applications, and next-generation RF connectivity.
The expanded partnership will leverage Cadence’s AI-driven design solutions alongside Samsung’s SF4X, SF5A, and SF2P process nodes. Both companies are focusing on delivering high-performance and low-power solutions essential for state-of-the-art systems such as advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) and RF connectivity applications.
The collaboration introduces a broadened portfolio under the SF4X IP umbrella, featuring advanced memory and interface solutions like LPDDR6/5x, GDDR7, DDR5, PCI Express 6.0, and Universal Chiplet Interconnect Express (UCIe). These solutions are tailored for various high-tech applications in AI, high-performance computing (HPC), and automotive sectors.
Moreover, Cadence’s full digital flow has received certification for Samsung’s latest SF2P process node, integrating technologies such as Samsung Hyper Cell methodology and Local Layout Effect (LLE) timing accuracy. This certification ensures that mutual customers can achieve signoff accuracy and meet runtime goals more efficiently.
In addition to the digital advancements, Cadence and Samsung have automated the migration of analog cell-based 4nm IP to the advanced 2nm process node. This enhancement accelerates turnaround times and allows for efficient IP reuse, significantly reducing time and development costs.
Cadence continues to be a frontrunner in the application of computational software, empowering leading semiconductor and systems companies around the world. With over 92% institutional ownership, Cadence remains a vital player in the services-prepackaged software sector, headquartered in San Jose, United States.
