Marvell Technology, Inc. (MRVL), a leader in data infrastructure semiconductor solutions, has announced the release of its Package Integrated Voltage Regulator (PIVR) power solutions. This innovative technology aims to enhance power delivery in AI and cloud infrastructure by transitioning from traditional board-level systems to integrated silicon chips, significantly improving efficiency and performance.

The PIVR solution boasts up to two times higher current density, achieving 3-4 amperes per sq. mm. compared to the typical 1.5-2 amperes per sq. mm. It also reduces transmission losses by 85%, allowing for the development of 4+ kilowatt compute platforms. These advancements provide a substantial improvement in computing operations, particularly in data centers.

Marvell's new power solutions feature dynamic voltage scaling, enabling real-time power tuning and enhancing computing capabilities in data centers. To ensure the robust implementation of this technology, Marvell has partnered with key industry players such as Infineon, MPS, Empower Semiconductor, Endura Technologies, Ferric, and Photeon Technologies. These collaborations aim to deliver pre-validated PIVR solutions for custom XPU customers, streamlining adoption for hyperscalers engaged in developing cutting-edge accelerators.

By integrating voltage regulation closer to processors, Marvell’s PIVR technology addresses critical power bottlenecks, paving the way for enhanced efficiency in AI-driven data centers. As part of Marvell's custom platform strategy, this launch underscores their commitment to providing innovative semiconductor solutions tailored to meet the growing power demands of the AI and cloud computing industry.
