Penguin Solutions (PENG) has announced the release of the second generation of its Stratus ztC Endurance® platform, a leading-edge fault tolerant computing solution. The updated platform continues to offer exceptional reliability with seven nines (99.99999%) availability, making it indispensable for maintaining uptime in critical applications and consolidating workloads efficiently.
The launch includes four models, notably the Stratus ztC Endurance 9110, which boasts a significant 46% performance upgrade compared to the previous 7100 model, and offers a dense 64-core configuration. Also included is the Stratus ztC Endurance 7110 with an 18% performance boost. Both models support high volume transaction processing and are well-suited for AI inferencing workloads at the edge, thanks to their ultra-high performance and low latency capabilities.
For broader compatibility, this generation expands support to Linux (RHEL 9.4), alongside existing bare-metal or virtualized Windows Server and VMware vSphere environments. This enhancement aligns the platform with the needs of industries such as financial services, retail, and manufacturing.
Penguin's president of Advanced Computing, Pete Manca, emphasized the platform's enhanced compute power and memory capabilities, highlighting the benefits to customers' total cost of ownership for AI and other applications. Jennifer Cooke from IDC noted that the platform's intelligent, predictive fault tolerance and continuous availability are crucial for companies transitioning to digital-first operations.
The Stratus ztC Endurance family leverages fifth generation Intel® Xeon® processors, offering optional 100Gb Ethernet networking to cater to data- and storage-intensive applications. The portfolio includes models optimized for various performance levels, from ultra-high performance (9110) to entry-level options (3110).
