BlackBerry's (BB, Financial) QNX Software Development Platform 8.0 has been chosen as the foundational operating system for the Eclipse Safe Open Vehicle Core (S-CORE) Project. This initiative is a collaborative effort under the Eclipse Software Defined Vehicle Working Group, aimed at developing an open-source core stack for Software Defined Vehicles (SDVs) with contributions from leading automotive companies such as BMW Group, Mercedes-Benz, Bosch, and others.

The S-CORE project's first release (v0.5) will incorporate essential functionalities such as application orchestration and inter-process communication, leveraging QNX's robust software foundation. This collaboration highlights BlackBerry's strong market presence within the competitive automotive software industry.

Through its QNX Everywhere initiative, BlackBerry allows developers free access to QNX SDP 8.0 for non-commercial use, facilitating accelerated SDV development and cost reduction. This strategic move enhances its ecosystem by providing automakers with a risk-free environment for evaluating and prototyping before commercial deployment.

QNX is trusted by major global automakers including BMW, Ford, GM, Honda, and Toyota for numerous automotive applications ranging from digital cockpits to advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS). This partnership between BlackBerry and key automotive players further strengthens its foothold in the evolving software-defined vehicle sector.
