As part of CEO Chen Lifang's business revitalization strategy, Intel (INTC, Financial) has appointed new engineering executives from leading tech firms like Cadence, Apple, and Google. The company announced that Srinivasan Iyengar, Jean-Didier Allegrucci, and Shailendra Desai will assume key engineering leadership roles.

Additionally, Greg Ernst, with over 20 years of experience at Intel, has been named Chief Revenue Officer to enhance customer relations and drive an engineering-focused approach. Since taking office, Chen has emphasized the need for products better aligned with customer needs, alongside workforce reductions and management restructuring.

One of Chen's primary challenges is revamping Intel's AI chip business, where it has fallen behind competitors like NVIDIA. Moreover, Intel seeks more clients for its extensive network of foundries, a task Ernst will lead as he oversees sales and marketing.

Iyengar, formerly of Cadence, will serve as Senior Vice President of the newly established Customer Engineering Excellence Center. Allegrucci, from startup Rain AI and previously Apple, will oversee AI SoC engineering. Desai, previously with Google, will lead AI GPU development, marking Intel's direct challenge to NVIDIA.
