BlackBerry's (BB, Financial) QNX division has partnered with Vector to develop a Foundational Vehicle Software Platform, aimed at driving the next evolution in software-defined vehicles (SDVs). This strategic collaboration combines QNX's safety-certified operating system with Vector's robust middleware technology, with the potential for integration of TTTech Auto's MotionWise Schedule. The initiative is designed to simplify the automotive software development process, reduce complexity, and accelerate time-to-market for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).
The platform is set to meet the highest standards of functional safety and cybersecurity, notably ISO 26262 ASIL D and ISO 21434, ensuring it aligns with industry-leading safety requirements. The collaboration is poised to provide OEMs with a solution that reduces duplicative software development and allows them to focus on differentiating in-vehicle experiences. An early access version of the platform will be made available to selected partners in 2025, with a certified release anticipated by the end of 2026.
