Nvidia (NVDA, Financial) executives are starting to cash in after a historic run-up in the stock. According to SEC filings, CEO Jensen Huang sold 100,000 shares over June 20 and 23 for a total of $14.4 million—his first sales under a new 10b5-1 trading plan adopted in March. The plan gives Huang the option to sell up to 6 million shares by the end of 2024, a stake worth roughly $865 million at Monday's closing price of $144.17. An additional filing shows Huang intends to sell another 50,000 shares in the near term.

Huang, who holds a $126 billion fortune largely tied to Nvidia stock, has now sold more than $1.9 billion worth of shares in total, according to Bloomberg data. While 10b5-1 plans are commonly used to reduce potential legal or reputational risk, the scale of this one stands out. It comes as Nvidia continues to trade near record levels, fueled by AI chip demand and investor optimism. The company did not comment on the transactions outside regular business hours.

Board director Mark Stevens, also a billionaire and longtime Nvidia backer, has been reducing his holdings as well. On June 18, Stevens sold more than 600,000 shares for approximately $88 million. Unlike Huang, his sales are not made under a pre-arranged plan. Earlier in the month, Stevens proposed selling up to 4 million shares and has already disposed of more than half that amount. While these moves don't necessarily signal a shift in Nvidia's long-term outlook, they do mark the most substantial insider sales in recent quarters—at a time when investors are paying closer attention to executive sentiment.
