GTT Communications, Inc., a leader in networking and security solutions for multinational organizations, has announced a significant expansion of its DDoS Protection and Mitigation Services. This enhancement, in collaboration with Corero Network Security, includes the addition of new scrubbing centers in São Paulo, Brazil; Hong Kong, China; and Miami, U.S. The expansion increases the total number of GTT's integrated scrubbing centers to 13 globally.

The rapid increase in the size of network-based DDoS attacks, with a 242% surge in packet-per-second attack sizes between the first and second halves of 2024, underlines the necessity for such an expansion. This growth is accompanied by a 128% rise in megabits-per-second average attack sizes during the same period.

The expansion boosts GTT’s total scrubbing capacity to 4 terabits per second (Tbps), providing enhanced protection for critical applications with improved performance and reduced in-region latency. The initiative is part of GTT's strategy to fortify its global Tier 1 IP backbone-enabled DDoS Protection and Mitigation Services, which now incorporate Corero's SmartWall ONE™ solution for sub-second detection and mitigation.

This development marks GTT’s first DDoS scrubbing installation in Latin America, a response to a 176% increase in DDoS attacks against Latin American traffic in early 2025, as reported by Corero’s Security Operations Center. By expanding its services into Latin America, as well as strengthening its presence in Asia-Pacific and North America, GTT aims to offer robust protection against complex cyber threats, supporting uninterrupted business operations worldwide.

Fletcher Keister, Chief Product and Technology Officer of GTT, emphasized the strategic placement of these new centers to align with rising regional demand and minimize latency for customers worldwide.
