U Power (UCAR, Financial) has inaugurated its first smart battery-swapping station for electric vehicles (EVs) in Hong Kong's Kwai Chung area. This facility represents the city's initial smart, zero-carbon battery-swapping station linked to a Battery-Bank. As part of its innovative approach, U Power is also introducing a Battery-Token utilizing Web 3.0 blockchain and token economics.
The company plans to establish 55 smart battery-swapping stations in Hong Kong, aiming to develop a comprehensive battery-swap ecosystem. This initiative is designed to transition Hong Kong's fleet of 18,000 taxis to environmentally friendly EVs, enhancing sustainable urban transportation. Additionally, U Power is in the process of forming agreements with partners in Hong Kong, Macau, and Singapore to expand its battery-swapping network.
In Macau, the company is planning to sell and service 600 battery-swapping vehicles alongside operating six stations. Meanwhile, in Singapore, U Power aims to sell 5,000 battery-swapping vehicles and manage 50 stations, fostering a broad battery-swapping ecosystem in these regions.
