Universal Robots, a leader in collaborative robotics and part of Teradyne (TER, Financial), has introduced UR Studio, an advanced online simulation tool designed to streamline the customization of robot cells. This latest innovation, built on the PolyScope X platform, offers users a comprehensive environment to test robot movements, simulate workflow, and optimize configuration. These capabilities aim to maximize return on investment by allowing thorough pre-deployment testing and reducing costly adjustments post-deployment.

UR Studio was showcased at the automatica trade fair in Munich, where it demonstrated its ease of use for both new and experienced automation users. According to Tero Tolonen, Chief Product Officer at Universal Robots, the tool fosters confidence and certainty in automation solutions.

Providing a no-cost, browser-based experience, UR Studio eliminates the need for installations, allowing users to simulate key aspects of their robot cells effortlessly. With pre-made templates for common applications like machine tending and pick-and-place, users can quickly build and configure virtual work cells. The tool initially supports English and is set to expand its language offerings to include German, Spanish, among others.
