WISeKey International Holding Ltd (NASDAQ: WKEY) has announced that its subsidiary, WISeSat.Space, has signed a strategic collaboration agreement with Astrocast, a Swiss nanosatellite IoT network operator. This partnership grants WISeSat access to Astrocast's operational Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite constellation, a significant asset considering it's one of the largest in Europe.

This collaboration aligns with the European Union's goals for space autonomy and allows WISeSat to enhance its IoT connectivity and resilience across Europe and other strategic global areas. By utilizing Astrocast's established satellite infrastructure, WISeSat aims to strengthen its secure IoT and communication services, which are underpinned by WISeKey's renowned cybersecurity technologies.

Fabien Jordan, CEO of Astrocast, emphasized the reliability of their satellite constellation, despite recent restructuring challenges, expressing eagerness to collaborate with WISeSat. This agreement not only broadens WISeSat's satellite capabilities but also potentially positions both companies for future expansions in high-value sectors like agriculture, environmental monitoring, logistics, energy, and defense.

The strategic partnership also sets the stage for developing advanced technologies such as edge AI in space, post-quantum cryptography, and satellite cybersecurity, thereby solidifying Europe's leadership in next-generation space technology. This positions WISeSat to capitalize on high-margin, specialized services while bolstering Europe's digital sovereignty in space communications.
