ECARX Holdings Inc. (ECX), a global leader in mobility technology, has announced a strategic partnership with a top developer of robotic lawn mowers to integrate its advanced lidar solution. This significant move is part of ECARX's strategy to diversify its applications beyond the automotive intelligence sector and tap into the rapidly expanding robotics and AI applications market. The global mass production is scheduled for 2026, marking the company's first foray into non-automotive lidar applications.
The lidar technology featured in the agreement boasts a solid-state 3D short-range operational capacity at a 905nm wavelength, along with a 60-meter detection range. This solution uses a customized large-array VCSEL light source and a high-resolution SPAD sensor, which offers high-precision environmental mapping that is essential for autonomous robot navigation and obstacle avoidance. The expansion into robotics allows ECARX to capitalize on its automotive R&D investments, potentially driving new revenue streams.
