Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) and KDDI Corporation have announced a partnership to open the Osaka Sakai Data Center by early 2026. This facility aims to support startups and enterprises in developing AI applications and training large language models (LLMs) with NVIDIA AI infrastructure. The center will leverage HPE's leading direct liquid cooling technologies, enhancing energy efficiency and minimizing environmental impact.

The collaboration will deploy an advanced rack-scale system featuring the NVIDIA GB200 NVL72 platform, built by HPE based on the NVIDIA Blackwell architecture. The hybrid cooling system combines air and direct liquid cooling to further reduce the facility's carbon footprint. This strategic initiative underscores HPE’s commitment to fostering AI sustainability and efficiency.

The Osaka Sakai Data Center is set to become a hub for AI-related business in Japan and globally, providing cloud-based AI computing services to organizations through KDDI's WAKONX platform. This initiative is part of KDDI's broader strategy to harness AI and data-driven solutions for societal growth and innovation.

Antonio Neri, President and CEO of HPE, highlighted the collaboration as a pivotal milestone in supporting AI innovation, while Hiromichi Matsuda, President and CEO of KDDI, expressed enthusiasm about shaping a sustainable future with AI alongside HPE's expertise in supercomputing and cooling technologies.
