Microsoft and OpenAI are reportedly at odds over contract terms related to Artificial General Intelligence (AGI). Under the current agreement, Microsoft's access to AGI would expire once OpenAI develops it. Microsoft is seeking to remove this clause, but OpenAI has not agreed to this change.

Despite the disagreement, both companies have released a joint statement affirming their productive and long-term partnership aimed at creating AI tools beneficial to all. They are optimistic about continuing their collaboration in the coming years. OpenAI's transition to a publicly-beneficial company requires Microsoft's approval, complicating the negotiations.

Discussions have been ongoing for several months without resolution. The outcome of these negotiations could significantly impact both companies' strategic directions in the AI landscape.
