Meta's CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, has recruited three key researchers from OpenAI to join his "superintelligence" team. The newly hired researchers, Lucas Beyer, Alexander Kolesnikov, and Xiaohua Zhai, previously worked at OpenAI's Zurich office. An OpenAI spokesperson confirmed their departure but did not provide additional details.
OpenAI's CEO, Sam Altman, mentioned in a recent interview that Meta attempted to attract OpenAI employees with signing bonuses up to $100 million and higher annual compensation packages. However, he noted that their top talent has not yet accepted Meta's offers.
In addition to these hires, Meta has also brought on 28-year-old Scale AI CEO Alexander Wang for the "superintelligence" project. Moreover, Meta acquired a 49% stake in Scale AI for $14.3 billion, further emphasizing its commitment to advancing its AI capabilities.
