EU Competition Commissioner Teresa Ribera emphasized that the EU's enforcement of the Digital Markets Act against major tech companies like Apple (AAPL, Financial), Meta (META), and Google is not being used as a bargaining tool in trade negotiations with the United States. The EU remains firm on enforcing regulations without concessions despite criticisms from former U.S. President Trump, who labeled the act as an unfair tax and a non-tariff trade barrier against Silicon Valley firms.

As the EU aims to finalize a trade agreement with the U.S. before the July 9 deadline, it has continued to impose penalties on tech giants, recently fining Apple €500 million and Meta €200 million, highlighting its commitment to the regulatory framework.
