Tesla (TSLA, Financial), the American electric vehicle giant, has made autonomous driving history. CEO Elon Musk announced on social media platform X that a brand-new Model Y autonomously drove from Tesla's Austin, Texas Gigafactory to the owner's home using the Full Self-Driving (FSD) system, with no human intervention. The journey, which reached speeds of up to 116 km/h, marked the first-ever fully autonomous delivery.

Elon Musk highlighted that the delivery was completed without any in-car driver or remote control, emphasizing the achievement of true full autonomous driving on public highways. The lucky owner, who was randomly selected and not affiliated with Tesla, expressed amazement at the seamless delivery process. Multiple videos on social media showed various Model Ys undergoing similar autonomous delivery tests, demonstrating the stability and maturity of the FSD system.

This breakthrough builds on Tesla's previously implemented "automated offline system" at their factories, where new vehicles autonomously drive from the production line to the logistics area. The "factory to doorstep" autonomous delivery showcases Tesla's advancing FSD technology and its rapid path toward commercialization. This revolutionary delivery model is expected to become a new growth engine in the smart car industry, transforming both supply chains and customer experiences.
