Yun-Ta Tsai, a former Nokia researcher and current senior engineer at Tesla, recently shared his views on Apple's slow progress in artificial intelligence (AI) and autonomous vehicles. Drawing from his experience at Nokia, Tsai highlighted how Nokia engineers were once hesitant to transition from physical keyboards to touchscreens, a shift that eventually left the company behind.
Tsai pointed out that Apple's current challenges mirror Nokia's past struggles with legacy issues. He emphasized that while Apple possesses competitive hardware, the company struggles with execution, particularly in emerging technologies like AI and autonomous driving. Tsai noted that despite having the necessary resources to dominate these fields, Apple lacks urgency and remains skeptical about the potential of full self-driving (FSD) technology.
He acknowledged that Apple's chips and technology are competitive but stressed that the company faces execution challenges. According to Tsai, Apple's issue is not a lack of technology but rather a deficiency in execution.
