This year has been the year of technology; from smartphones to Big Data, all segments of technology have been rapidly evolving and has been action packed with new innovations. From IBM (IBM, Financial) to Samsung (SSNLF, Financial), every company in the technology sector has been on their heels in bringing out new products to make data convenient. In this race Oracle (ORCL, Financial) has yet again come up with something new in the data handling space. In our last article on Big Data we had mentioned the tryst that different companies are making in a bid to make big revenues from Big Data.

According to recent new Oracle is coming up with a new and improved version of Oracle GoldenGate 12c to handle data better which is the need of the hour for almost every company in order to work out their business equations. Let us see in detail what offer Oracle is coming up with and how the corporate world is going to benefit from it and most importantly how will it improve the numbers for Oracle.

Oracle GoldenGate

Oracle has announced the enhanced version of its Oracle GoldenGate 12c that comes with expanded support for heterogeneous databases and Big Data solutions, improved manageability and support for hybrid Cloud environments. Oracle GoldenGate 12c allows customers to implement real-time data integration and transactional data replication between on-premises and Cloud environments and across a broader set of heterogeneous platforms.

The all new Oracle GoldenGate 12C offers a new data migration utility attribute, Streams2OGG, which would allow customers currently using Oracle Streams move their data to Oracle GoldenGate and analyze their data with the latest features of GoldenGate like: integrated capture and delivery processes and advanced conflict management.

The new GoldenGate offers support for IBM Informix and extended support for Microsoft (MSFT, Financial) SQL Server and MySQL. Oracle GoldenGate 12c now gives customers the added benefit of improvising their SOCKS compliance setting for data transfer, enabling them to replicate data between on-premises and cloud environments without having to subscribe to an extra VPN connection.

Oracle GoldenGate Adapter for Java enables integration with Oracle NoSQL, Apache Hadoop, Apache HDFS, Apache HBase, Apache Storm, Apache Flume, Apache Kafka and others and allows real-time, noninvasive data streaming into Big Data targets to generate new permutations and combinations from their business data, thus rendering new perspectives of analytic reports and new insights into business from their existing business data and improve the customer experience through optimization of information extraction from raw data.

In addition to tallying heterogeneous databases and highlighting data discrepancies without stalling your business operations, Oracle GoldenGate Veridata 12c now provides data repair and revalidation capabilities for out-of-sync data.

Oracle Active Data Guard customers who want to remove or avoid any data replication impact on their production ambience can install Oracle GoldenGate 12c on their standby systems to capture data in real time.

Why the new GoldenGate?

The previous Oracle versions were more of single-channel operation with more focus on the particular system-driven data handling; however, the new Oracle GoldenGate 12C allows multiple formats of data handling systems to be integrated into one system and thus allows the benefit of handling data in different ways and generate different output from the same data pool.

The new release also simplifies the up-gradation process for customers leveraging the Oracle Database Edition-Based Redefinition feature by coordinating the upgrades and bringing the target database to the same edition-based version.

Customers using the new GoldenGate also get greater flexibility to start and stop processes, edit parameter files, collect information about operations and diagnose issues easily with Oracle Enterprise Manager Plug-In 12.1.3, an integrated part of Oracle Management Pack for Oracle GoldenGate 12c.

“Real-time data integration is a critical enabling technology for organizations that want to get more and faster value from their data and connect systems deployed in diverse and hybrid cloud environments,” said Jeff Pollock, vice president of product management at Oracle. He further added that “by continuously broadening Oracle GoldenGate’s support for non-Oracle databases, deepening integration with Oracle technologies, and streamlining Cloud integration capabilities, we’re helping customers to conveniently and cost-effectively achieve pervasive, continuous access to timely data.”

Final touch

This new system would undoubtedly leverage the market position of Oracle as a data management company with the edge of handling Big Data and Cloud computing and enhance its book of business by adding to its margins and revenue yield. The obvious reason for the new Oracle GoldenGate 12C gaining rapid popularity with the global corporates are its flexibility and ability to integrate existing data management tools and generate a wide spectrum of information without much expense of revamping total setup and that currently Big Data analytics is not just a rage but a need of the hour for any and every business conglomerate operating on a worldwide scale to have an edge in the ever-intensifying competition in the market. Right from a smartphone maker to an ecommerce company to a brick-and-mortar retail company, everyone needs to use some or the other information set from the Big Data pool, and companies have been investing in billions to draw benefit out of modern data technologies. As a matter of fact, such tools as the recent Oracle offering would not start generating profits overnight for its modus operandi as it has to go through a phase of testing at the client side before actually converting into a sale for Oracle. Hence we can expect the new data handling system to add business numbers to Oracle over a couple of quarters. As an investor, it would be wise to closely follow how the market takes the new offering from Oracle and as the order book of the new system starts building so we should start adding positions in Oracle into our portfolio in the same ratio.
