Amazon's CEO, Andy Jassy, recently stated that the company has not yet experienced significant price increases due to tariffs. He explained that both Amazon and its sellers have employed strategies to mitigate these effects, such as forward purchasing and stockpiling inventory. Jassy mentioned that Amazon hosts approximately two million sellers on its platform. While some sellers may pass tariff costs onto consumers, many choose not to, benefiting from market diversity.
Jassy also highlighted the transformative impact of artificial intelligence (AI) on business, describing generative AI as one of the most revolutionary technologies of our time. He emphasized the importance of embracing such technologies rather than resisting them. In a recent memo to employees, Jassy noted that AI would reduce Amazon's workforce over time by making tasks more engaging and efficient. He anticipates increased hiring related to robotics and AI in the future.
AI is set to change not only employee dynamics but also customer interactions. Jassy predicted that within the next decade, many consumers might have robots at home, featuring advanced personal assistants like Alexa to enhance household assistance.
