Bausch + Lomb Corporation (BLCO, Financial), a global leader in eye health, has announced the launch of a new campaign called “Eyes Tell the Story: The Impact of Dry Eye.” This initiative aims to increase awareness and educate the public about dry eye through personal stories and new survey data. The campaign encourages individuals experiencing symptoms to consult with eye care professionals for effective treatment.

The latest survey conducted by Bausch + Lomb highlights ongoing misconceptions among dry eye sufferers. Key findings reveal that 62% of sufferers mistakenly believe or are unsure if dry eye resolves itself after treatment. Additionally, 43% of respondents incorrectly thought or were uncertain that dry eye is a temporary condition, with many unaware of the necessity for long-term treatment.

“Approximately 150 million U.S. adults experience occasional or frequent symptoms of dry eye, with around 38 million living with chronic dry eye disease,” stated Yehia Hashad, MD, Executive Vice President, Research & Development, and Chief Medical Officer at Bausch + Lomb. The company emphasizes the importance of seeking timely relief, as a significant portion of sufferers wait six months or more before consulting an eye doctor.

Bausch + Lomb's campaign also collaborates with photographer and artist Kayte Demont, capturing portraits of individuals living with dry eye. This storytelling approach aims to bridge the education gap, ensuring sufferers are aware of the range of relief options available, from over-the-counter products to prescription treatments.
