  • Momentus Inc. (MNTS, Financial) successfully executes Phase 3 of DARPA contract for in-space assembly.
  • Company receives $1.2 million in milestone payments since March 2025.
  • Mission to launch on SpaceX Transporter mission in February 2026.

Momentus Inc. (MNTS), a U.S. commercial space company, has achieved significant progress on its contract with the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) for pioneering in-space assembly of large structures. The company has recently completed several critical milestones, including the Preliminary Design Review (PDR) phase of the DARPA Novel Orbital and Moon Manufacturing, Materials, and Mass-efficient Design (NOM4D) program, earning $1.2 million in milestone payments since March 2025.

The mission, which is scheduled to launch no earlier than February 2026 aboard a SpaceX Transporter rideshare mission, will utilize the Momentus Vigoride Orbital Service Vehicle (OSV) to validate the functionality and reliability of in-space assembly payloads in the low Earth orbit (LEO) environment. This initiative marks Momentus's fourth Vigoride mission and its inaugural mission supporting DARPA. The current phase of the DARPA contract is expected to continue through June 2025.

Momentus is tasked with providing comprehensive support for the NOM4D program, including arranging launch services, payload integration, and hosting the payload in orbit. These efforts aim to revolutionize space operations by enabling cost-effective assembly of structures, which could transform applications such as large communications antennas and orbital manufacturing hubs.

As demand for the Vigoride OSV grows, Momentus is actively planning its next mission, Vigoride 8, and invites interested government and commercial customers to explore opportunities for launching microsatellites and hosted payloads.
