Planet Labs PBC (PL, Financial), a leader in satellite imagery and geospatial solutions, announced securing four significant contracts in June 2025 for its AI-enabled solutions within the defense and intelligence sector. These contracts are set to enhance situational awareness and support informed decision-making for government customers both in the U.S. and internationally.
Among the notable agreements, Planet secured a €240 million contract funded by Germany, which includes a multi-year renewal with an eight-figure annual value for its PlanetScope data and AI solutions. Additionally, the company's existing Hybrid Space Architecture (HSA) contract with the U.S. Department of Defense's Defense Innovation Unit (DIU) was expanded to support the U.S. Indo-Pacific Command (INDOPACOM) with vital indications and warnings for national security.
Further cementing its position, Planet signed a seven-figure expansion with the U.S. Navy to enhance Maritime Domain Awareness over the Pacific Ocean. Moreover, NATO selected Planet for a seven-figure contract to deliver persistent space-based surveillance and critical Maritime Domain Awareness functions.
These wins highlight the strategic focus of Planet on developing AI-enabled solutions that leverage its extensive satellite data, allowing nations to monitor entire regions and uncover potential threats. CEO Will Marshall emphasized the growing, global demand for Planet's innovative solutions amid the evolving geopolitical and security landscape.
As part of its commitment to advancing its market presence, Planet continues to provide its customers with daily satellite imagery and advanced geospatial insights, aiming to facilitate discovery of new threats across land and ocean territories. The recent contract awards underscore the company's strategy to prioritize downstream solutions, validated by significant customer engagements across Europe and beyond.
