Wheaton Precious Metals (WPM) has officially announced the return of its Future of Mining Challenge for the 2025/26 cycle. The initiative offers a substantial prize of US$1 million to incentivize cleantech ventures developing cutting-edge technologies aimed at sustainable water management in the mining sector.

In a strategic partnership, Wheaton is collaborating with the University of British Columbia's Sauder School of Business. This collaboration aims to leverage the university's expertise in venture building and early-stage innovation support, offering participants a unique opportunity to develop their technologies in a supportive environment.

Interested parties are invited to submit expressions of interest by August 29, 2025. Following this, selected ventures will be prompted to submit a comprehensive application in September 2025. The winner will be unveiled at the Prospectors & Developers Association of Canada (PDAC) Convention in Toronto, slated for March 2026, which is recognized as the largest mining conference globally.

This initiative underscores Wheaton's commitment to fostering innovation and minimizing environmental impact within the mining industry.
