Microsoft (MSFT) Adjusts AI Chip Development Plans

Microsoft (MSFT, Financial) is revising its internal roadmap for developing AI server chips. The company is streamlining some designs and extending the development timeline for other AI chips. This strategy aims to release less ambitious designs by 2028, maintaining competitiveness with NVIDIA's (NVDA) AI chips. Microsoft executives informed their silicon team of this updated plan during a recent meeting. This decision follows Microsoft's earlier postponement of its next-generation AI chip, Maia 200, to after the coming year.
