Insight Enterprises (NSIT), a global Fortune 500 Solutions Integrator, has successfully completed its largest and most ambitious IT transformation project to date aboard the cruise ship Manara, now rebranded as AROYA. The overhaul is part of Saudi Arabia's diversification strategy in tourism, moving beyond its traditional petrochemical industry. The project enhances passenger experience through state-of-the-art guest service systems and operational efficiencies.

The IT transformation includes cutting-edge technology such as mobile apps, self-service kiosks, and personalized digital interactions. Insight’s architecture-led approach is designed to integrate these features seamlessly, significantly boosting the cruise ship’s operational efficiency. Additional services hosted on the new infrastructure include advanced financial systems, a CRM system, and excursion booking and destination planning tools, all aimed at enhancing customer retention and satisfaction.

The comprehensive upgrade utilized Dell Hyper Converged Infrastructure and Cisco Core technologies, ensuring robust guest experiences and crew operations. Microsoft Active Directory and Intune management, along with Horizon VDI platforms, were also deployed to support over 650 modern workplace devices, tablets, and point-of-sale systems.

Jamie Turner, Insight’s Global Account Manager, noted the demanding nature of the project, which required gutting and overhauling the ship’s IT infrastructure. The entire transformation was completed in just 11 months, setting a new benchmark for maritime innovation. Bilal Husain, Executive Director, Information Technology and Digitisation at Cruise Saudi, praised the project for reaching a new frontier in cruise ship transformation.
