NVIDIA (NVDA, Financial) and CoreWeave have announced the commercial deployment of NVIDIA's next-generation AI graphics processor, the Blackwell Ultra chip, at CoreWeave. Dell revealed that CoreWeave received custom devices based on the NVIDIA GB300 NVL72 AI system. CoreWeave is the first cloud service provider to install systems based on the Blackwell Ultra platform.

The Blackwell Ultra chip, expected to ship in bulk later this year, is NVIDIA's latest offering. The systems installed by CoreWeave utilize liquid cooling technology and include 72 Blackwell Ultra GPUs and 36 NVIDIA Grace CPUs. These systems are assembled and tested in the United States.

Following the announcement, CoreWeave's stock rose by 6%, Dell's by about 2%, and NVIDIA's by less than 2%. This development marks a significant milestone for NVIDIA, as AI developers continue to seek its latest chips, which are 50 times more capable of generating AI content compared to their predecessors.

Investors are closely watching how NVIDIA manages the transition to the new AI chips, monitoring for any production issues or delays. CoreWeave, a smaller cloud service provider compared to Amazon, Google, and Microsoft, gains a competitive edge by being the first to offer NVIDIA's latest chips. CoreWeave, which has a long-standing partnership with NVIDIA, went public earlier this year, with its stock tripling since its IPO.
