Ingram Micro Faces Ransomware Attack Disrupting Systems

Ingram Micro, a leading technology distributor and managed services provider, announced a ransomware attack has caused ongoing system disruptions. The cyberattack began last Thursday, crippling the company's website and network. Ingram Micro is actively working to restore its systems to resume order processing.

Before the U.S. stock market opened on Monday, Ingram Micro alerted shareholders about the data breach. Based in California, Ingram Micro is one of the world's largest technology distributors, supplying tech products and hardware globally. It also provides managed services for customer cloud services, acting as an outsourced IT department for small business clients.

The disruption is affecting software licensing operations, preventing clients from using or configuring products dependent on Ingram's systems. Although no major ransomware group has claimed responsibility, "Bleeping Computer" reports that the "SafePay" ransomware group is behind the attack. These groups typically name the infiltrated companies and release some stolen data to pressure victims into paying a ransom.

Ingram Micro's spokesperson, Lisa Zwick, has not yet responded to requests for comments.
