  • Zscaler (ZS, Financial) introduces Zscaler Cellular, enabling Zero Trust communication for IoT/OT devices using only a SIM card.
  • Zscaler Cellular promises resilient global connectivity and a zero attack surface by isolating each device on a private network.
  • Launch set for August 2025 with early adoption by companies like Sandvik and Maverick Transportation.

Zscaler, Inc. (ZS), a leader in cloud security, has unveiled Zscaler Cellular, an extension of its AI-powered Zero Trust Exchange platform that facilitates secure communication for IoT and OT devices exclusively through a cellular SIM card. This innovation removes the need for Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) or additional software, thereby addressing significant security and connectivity challenges in the IoT security space.

Zscaler Cellular is designed to ensure resilient connectivity by allowing IoT/OT devices to connect automatically to any cellular network globally. It maintains a zero attack surface by isolating each device on its own private network, with all connections securely processed through the Zscaler platform.

The global launch of Zscaler Cellular is scheduled for August 2025, and the solution is already being utilized by organizations such as Sandvik and Maverick Transportation. To scale this solution, Zscaler is partnering with leading telecommunications companies like Stacuity and BT, enabling the integration of Zero Trust security within cellular networks worldwide. This positions Zscaler to provide secure, scalable connectivity solutions for IoT and OT environments on a global scale.

Users benefit from the product’s simplicity, as deployment requires only a SIM card, eliminating the need for software agents or VPNs. This ease of use addresses the challenge of securing devices in areas where organizations lack control over networking infrastructure, ensuring comprehensive protection for distributed IoT/OT environments.
