Verizon Communications Inc. (VZ) has announced a significant response to the devastating floods in Central Texas, showcasing its commitment to community support and emergency assistance. The telecommunications giant is donating $100,000 to Texas Search and Rescue (TEXSAR) to aid their ongoing search, rescue, and recovery operations throughout the affected areas.

In a bid to further support the impacted communities, Verizon is waiving domestic call, text, and data usage charges for all consumers and small business customers from July 7 to August 3 across 95 zip codes spanning 28 counties in Central Texas. This relief measure is applicable to both prepaid and postpaid accounts, including various Verizon prepaid brands such as Straight Talk, Total Wireless, Walmart Family Mobile, Tracfone, and others. Customers residing in the impacted regions will automatically qualify for this offer without any required actions.

Beyond financial contributions, Verizon’s support extends to technological assistance. The company has provided low-earth orbit satellite devices to facilitate the Texas Department of Public Safety's drone search and recovery operations, enhancing the effectiveness of emergency efforts on the ground. Despite the extensive damage caused by the floods, Verizon's network infrastructure continues to operate efficiently, ensuring crucial connectivity for affected individuals and responders.

Verizon’s proactive involvement not only aids in immediate rescue operations but also emphasizes its role in maintaining robust communication networks during emergencies. This initiative reflects Verizon's broader mission to enhance safety and connectivity for all its customers.
