Google has announced the rollout of its Gemini feature on Wear OS smartwatches, a plan initially previewed in May. This new integration is part of Google's strategy to replace Google Assistant across all its devices and platforms with Gemini. The feature will be available for smartwatches running Wear OS 4 and above, including brands like Pixel, Samsung, OPPO, OnePlus, and Xiaomi.
Users can interact with Gemini by saying "Hey, Google," pressing the side button, or tapping the Gemini app icon on their smartwatch. Gemini facilitates tasks such as querying cooking times or checking weather conditions, and it can even summarize emails or add events to a calendar across apps.
Google has also enhanced the "Circle to Search" feature, integrating AI to provide a more streamlined and efficient search experience. This feature allows users to initiate searches by selecting or highlighting content on their screen. The AI capabilities enable users to explore complex topics and ask follow-up questions without switching apps.
Additionally, Google has improved the AI mode in Google Lens, now available on Android and iOS in the US and India. The "AI Overview" feature has been optimized for better readability and includes more visual elements. Pixel 9 Pro users can enjoy a free one-year subscription to Google AI Pro, which includes access to Veo 3 for creating short videos with natural audio.
