Meta Platforms (META, Financials) reportedly offered a compensation package exceeding $200 million to recruit Ruoming Pang, Apple's (AAPL, Financials) top executive overseeing artificial intelligence models, according to Bloomberg's Thursday report citing sources familiar with the matter.

The offer is part of Meta's broader effort to staff its newly formed “Superintelligence” division, which aims to develop artificial general intelligence. Apple did not counter the offer, as it far exceeded standard compensation outside of CEO Tim Cook, the report said.

The $200 million package is said to be in line with what Meta is offering other top hires for the team. However, Bloomberg noted that much of the value is tied to performance milestones and multi-year vesting, limiting its full realization unless long-term goals are met.

Both Meta and Apple declined to comment on the reported offer.

Meta shares are little changed in Thursday trading but have gained nearly 25% year to date. Apple stock, in contrast, is flat Thursday but down more than 15% in 2025 amid growing concerns that it's falling behind rivals in the AI race.
