Tesla (TSLA, Financial) has released a new software update featuring the much-anticipated Grok integration. However, the current version does not yet allow interaction with the vehicle. Earlier, CEO Elon Musk announced the integration of Grok, a large language model developed by xAI, into Tesla vehicles. The update is now being pushed to vehicles, but there is a significant limitation.
According to the release notes for version 2025.26, Grok is available in beta for U.S. vehicles equipped with AMD infotainment systems, which applies to cars produced from mid-2021 onwards. The feature requires premium connectivity or a WiFi connection. Importantly, Grok is currently in the testing phase and will not send commands to the vehicle, meaning existing voice commands remain unchanged. Essentially, this update installs Grok on the car's computer, similar to having it on a smartphone.
