Kraig Biocraft Laboratories, Inc. (OTCQB: KBLB), a leading innovator in spider silk technology, has announced significant expansions in its production capabilities. The company is set to open a second parallel production facility in Southeast Asia within the next 30 days, alongside the introduction of three new advanced spider silk strains. This move aims to enhance production yields and the quality of spun silk, while also establishing a more robust supply chain.

The newly introduced spider silk strains have been developed to complement the existing BAM-1 hybrid, where two strains are specifically bred for controlled diapause. This process involves a 90-day cold treatment, which is known to produce stronger, finer silk and significantly larger cocoons. The company has also completed its latest batch of BAM-1 finished spider silk, now covering approximately one-third of the required volume for a major European fashion house.

The addition of the second facility is designed to enable continuous production by operating in conjunction with the original facility. While one facility prepares silkworm eggs for cold storage, the other will initiate the next rearing cycle. This system ensures a steady flow of production operations, greatly expanding capacity and supporting year-round output.

Jon Rice, COO of Kraig Labs, highlighted that these advancements are vital for meeting the high standards of premium fabric production, particularly for their key initial target, a renowned producer in the global luxury market. CEO Kim Thompson emphasized the strategic importance of deploying dual rearing centers to build a reliable, scalable supply chain to meet the growing demand for spider silk.

As Kraig Labs transitions to this advanced production phase, they anticipate a temporary shift from finished silk production to focus on generating new hybrid eggs, aiming for release in the fourth quarter. The company continues to advance its commercialization roadmap, setting the stage for a cost-effective, environmentally responsible spider silk production platform.
