F5, Inc. (FFIV), renowned for delivering and securing applications and APIs, has released its 2025 State of AI Application Strategy Report. The report highlights that only 2% of global organizations are highly prepared to securely scale AI across operations. Despite 77% of companies demonstrating moderate readiness, significant security and governance challenges persist, potentially exposing these enterprises to risks.

The study involved insights from 650 global IT leaders and 150 AI strategists, representing organizations with at least $200 million in annual revenue. A key finding indicates that 70% of moderately ready organizations are already using generative AI, with 25% of apps on average utilizing AI. However, only 31% have implemented AI firewalls, revealing a gap in AI-specific security protections.

The report underscores the necessity for enterprises to diversify AI models by using both paid and open-source tools. Moreover, integrating robust governance and AI-specific security measures is crucial to mitigate risks associated with AI adoption. The AI Readiness Index introduced in the report serves as a roadmap for organizations to enhance their AI scalability and security posture effectively.

John Maddison, Chief Product and Corporate Marketing Officer at F5, stressed the importance of operationalizing AI with confidence, stating, "As AI becomes core to business strategy, readiness requires more than experimentation—it demands security, scalability, and alignment." The report provides actionable steps to help organizations embed AI in operations, analytics, and security workflows for enterprise-wide transformation.
