According to a recent UBS research report, Apple (AAPL, Financial) is anticipated to release its first foldable iPhone, the iPhone Fold, in the latter half of 2026. Although the market expects the device to be priced between $2,000 and $2,400, UBS's supply chain analysis suggests that if Apple can achieve breakthroughs in Bill of Materials (BOM) cost control, the average selling price could be reduced to $2,000, directly competing with Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold7.

The UBS analyst team, led by Jimmy Yoon, emphasizes that supply chain strategy will be crucial for the product's market performance. A survey conducted by UBS Evidence Lab indicates that while 18% of iPhone users are willing to pay over $2,000 for a foldable model, 60% believe that the price needs to drop to the $1,500-$1,700 range to drive purchases.

Initial sales are expected to be between 10 to 15 million units in the first year. However, if pricing strategies successfully lower consumer price resistance, demand could increase by over 30%. Apple's established supply chain management is poised to be a core advantage, allowing for cost reductions and market share growth as foldable technology matures.

UBS highlights several supply chain partners likely to benefit from the iPhone Fold's production, including Lens Technology, Samsung Electronics, LG Display (LPL), and Foxconn, due to their expertise in screen modules and assembly.
