Meta Recruits Top Researchers from OpenAI for AI Super Lab

Meta, under the leadership of Mark Zuckerberg, has successfully recruited two top researchers, Jason Wei and Hyung Won Chung, from OpenAI. This move is part of Meta's ambitious plans to enhance its new superintelligence lab.

According to sources, both researchers' Slack accounts at OpenAI have been deactivated. Wei and Chung joined OpenAI in 2023, having previously worked at Google, a subsidiary of Alphabet, where they collaborated on chain-of-thought and deep reasoning research.

At OpenAI, Jason Wei focused on reinforcement learning, a rapidly evolving area in artificial intelligence that uses reward-based feedback to train models. Meanwhile, Hyung Won Chung contributed to OpenAI's "01" model, specializing in agents and reasoning. The two researchers have a history of close collaboration, often working on overlapping projects.
